RED announces first smartphone with holographic display

Agree that recently, smartphones have ceased to surprise us with something. Manufacturers strive to make them thinner, easier, reduce the frame around the screen, but all these are minor improvements that no one particularly enjoys. Revolution in this area has not been for many years. And the famous company RED, whose professional digital cameras are used by almost all the directors of Hollywood, is going to make this very revolution. It announced the world’s first smartphone with a holographic screen, called RED Hydrogen One.

The Hydrogen One smartphone is equipped with a 5.7-inch holographic display that, in addition to displaying traditional 2D images, can reproduce holographic content, 3D content without the use of any glasses, and content for virtual and augmented reality. In addition to the unique display, the smartphone also has a special H3O algorithm that automatically converts normal stereo audio into full-scale surround audio. The device will be running the Android operating system, and the manufacturer claims that the device will not be locked under any cellular operators.

The smartphone, by all accounts, will be modular. But nothing is known about additional modules for him. The official press release of the company is rather stingy for information and is limited only to a brief listing of the advantages of the future gadget. Precisely, the device will be compatible with RED cameras and allow directors and operators to use the smartphone as a kind of control panel, as well as to view the footage. How much will this gadget cost? The price is already known. The device will go on sale in the first quarter of 2018 and two different cases. The model of titanium will cost you $ 1,595, and the aluminum version is slightly cheaper – only $ 1,195.
